Can one man be the answer?
In the spring of 490 AD, a relentless tide of invaders crashes over the lands once held by Rome. Those who resist are mercilessly slaughtered, while the unwilling flee to the western territories—lands even Rome failed to conquer.
Amidst the rugged, fog-shrouded hills, where ancient gods still whisper through the trees, the last free Britons find their champion in Arturius. A towering figure robed in the legacy of Roman purple and clad in the relics of his ancestors’ armor, he rallies his people.
To stand a chance against savage, battle-hardened enemies, Arturius must summon the spirit of the land itself and forge alliances with old foes. All while navigating the dark and mysterious forces lurking in the wilds of his homeland.
Arturius is a dark retelling of the King Arthur legend. This dark story is part of the Twisted Tales of Familiar Faces collection, featuring classic beloved characters twisted into terrifying nightmares.

Is this a different retelling of Arthur and his knights or what. I have to say I enjoyed it. Especially the ending which was another one I didn’t see coming that’s for sure. Recommended read.

This is an exceptional reimagining of the tale of king Arthur. Well written with excellent characters and a bold, bloody plot. You’ve never seen Arthur like this before! I always thought he seemed kind of boring, but this Arthur is definitely not!

I seem to be making it a pattern by not knowing anything about the books I pick up. Sometimes, that’s good. Other times, not so much. This is a King Arthur retelling, a tale of war and magic with the loss of friendship and love. While I enjoyed this tale, it was not one I would have typically chosen for myself.

I did not expect this. What a talent A K Hughey is.
A retelling of King Arthur that no one would see coming. Vivid description sets the stage, but the ending must be read to be appreciated.
I’m searching A K Hughey books for my TBR.
A must read as with all the Twisted Tales series,
so much fun

An imaginative retelling of the King Arthur legend. It’s a slow burn but stick with it because of the twist ending! Very well done.

Arturius sets out to save his people from a murderous clan, only to find trickery, deceit, loss and witchery. An excellent, unexpected twist at the end, gives this retelling of the Legend of King Arthur, a totally different aspect. Highly recommended.
Marlys –
This is a great retelling of the King Arthur story. I didn’t see the end coming. I highly recommend this book.
Michael Clarkson –
Very different retelling of an age old story.
Very well written, with twists at every corner.
Loved it!!
Wendell K Sprouse –
This was my favorite of this line of books thus far. Based on the King Aurthur story, but with many, many twist. Treachery abounds, but it has a great ending. Such that I hope this could be extended into more books. Well done!!
Stefanie Silvestri –
This is a retelling of King Arthur. The writing is excellent, the characters are well developed and the plot is vivid, detailed and filled with bloody scenes. The twist at the end was one that I didn’t see coming.

Very dark yet entertaining retelling of the legend of King Arthur. Great version of the story and definitely one I never saw coming. Definitely recommended as are all of these retellings.
Clive Willcocks –
This is the only one of the Twisted Tales series so far that I could not get into. Unfortunately it was not for me

Being a huge fan of King Arthur, druids, the knights, dragons, etc, this retelling was one of my very favorites of the Twisted Tales of Familiar Faces!
Arthur is not a king in this retelling, but he is leading his men and women into battle. The Gods guide him on several quests that he must prove himself in to ensure he can save his people from total destruction!
I LOVE all the Quests, the fantasy, and the storytelling. The change up in the characters from previous tellings was fun and interesting.
There is some gore, of course, being it is during war/battle. The lead up to the end is exciting, and then the big twist at the end seals the story off very nicely!
This definitely had moments that were completely devastating and satisfying to me once I grew to know the characters. I highly recommend this!
Ken Lingenfelter –
A retelling of King Arthur’s tales. Arturius is looked to be the savior of the kingdom. Arturius is the one to do battle with the enemies. A twist to the King Arthur and the round table tales.

Another fantastic installment in the Twisted Tales of Familiar Faces but this time with King Arthur. I have read many a retellings of King Arthur but this is defiantly in the top 5 of them! Do not miss out on this one!
