Can one man be the answer?

In the spring of 490 AD, a relentless tide of invaders crashes over the lands once held by Rome. Those who resist are mercilessly slaughtered, while the unwilling flee to the western territories—lands even Rome failed to conquer.

Amidst the rugged, fog-shrouded hills, where ancient gods still whisper through the trees, the last free Britons find their champion in Arturius. A towering figure robed in the legacy of Roman purple and clad in the relics of his ancestors’ armor, he rallies his people.

To stand a chance against savage, battle-hardened enemies, Arturius must summon the spirit of the land itself and forge alliances with old foes. All while navigating the dark and mysterious forces lurking in the wilds of his homeland.

Arturius is a dark retelling of the King Arthur legend. This dark story is part of the Twisted Tales of Familiar Faces collection, featuring classic beloved characters twisted into terrifying nightmares.

Is this a different retelling of Arthur and his knights or what. I have to say I enjoyed it. Especially the ending which was another one I didn’t see coming that’s for sure. Recommended read.

  2. Maureen

This is an exceptional reimagining of the tale of king Arthur. Well written with excellent characters and a bold, bloody plot. You’ve never seen Arthur like this before! I always thought he seemed kind of boring, but this Arthur is definitely not!

  3. Diana

I seem to be making it a pattern by not knowing anything about the books I pick up. Sometimes, that’s good. Other times, not so much. This is a King Arthur retelling, a tale of war and magic with the loss of friendship and love. While I enjoyed this tale, it was not one I would have typically chosen for myself.

I did not expect this. What a talent A K Hughey is.
A retelling of King Arthur that no one would see coming. Vivid description sets the stage, but the ending must be read to be appreciated.
I’m searching A K Hughey books for my TBR.
A must read as with all the Twisted Tales series,
    so much fun

  5. Riann Fletcher

An imaginative retelling of the King Arthur legend. It’s a slow burn but stick with it because of the twist ending! Very well done.
