She wanted the throne. The curse wanted everything.
Born second to a crown she was never meant to wear, Celia learns early that fate is cruel—and ambition is deadly.
When a twisted creature offers her a throne in exchange for a favor to be named later, Celia accepts without hesitation. Love, power, and blood follow in quick succession.
But magic never forgets its debts. As bodies pile up and the kingdom rots from within, Celia discovers that ruling comes at a far greater cost than she imagined—and the curse she unleashed will not end with her.
Evercurse  is a spine-chilling retelling of Rumpelstiltskin. This dark tale is part of the Twisted Tales of Familiar Faces collection, featuring classic beloved characters twisted into terrifying nightmares.

This is such a cool reimagining of this old tale. But with much more gore, greed, and violence. Couldn’t put it down!
Still excited to read more into this entire series.

Loved this rendition of Rumpelstiltskin, finished it the day I got it.
Strong storyline and a lovely twist for the end. Just enough gore. You reap what you sow!

An excellent horror with an evil twist. Be careful what you wish for as the price you pay is not what you expect. A must read and highly recommended.

I loved this very dark horror retelling of Rumplestiltskin. The main character is unsympathetic which made the story more intriguing than the original. It was fun to have the stakes be so high. Not for the faint of heart and impossible to put down.

This was a very dark Rumpelstiltskin reimagining. Celia is an ambitious and flawed character, which made the story interesting. It was a short story, but I felt like there was a lot to the story with the intriguing quest for power.

Creative reimagining of Rumpelstiltskin. The characters were strong, emotions came right off the page. Another review had my first thoughts: “you reap what you sow”. Very pointed in this case. This series does attract strong writers. I will be looking for the next in the Twisted Tales series. Must read.

Super interesting retelling of Rumplestiltskin. Unfortunately, I started this book at bedtime and had to finish the whole thing in one go! I found myself completely unable to stop turning pages.

This dark and frightening retelling of Rumpelstiltskin is a short horror story that can be finished in a day. Some of the scenes are really disturbing with blood and violence. So always think carefully about what you wish for because the price you pay may turn out to be very different from what you expected.

Well, this was a different take on the rumplestilskin tale for sure. Just goes to show you what you get if you go after something you shouldn’t doesn’t it. Recommended reading

What an interesting twist to the story of Rumpelstiltskin with Celia wanting nothing more than to escape her home and be a Queen. Her selfishness shines through when she is NOT careful of what she wishes for and must pay the price. Trigger warnings: death, gore

Great retelling of a classic story. I enjoyed it and I read it one sitting.

This is between a 3.0-3.5 stars for me but most platforms does not do half stars.
This is a Rumpelstilzchen retelling. I appreciate that I was giving the opportunity to read a copy in exchange for my honest review. I do think this story was written really well, it had all the makings of a good horror story with gore and dark themes, but for me personally it missed the mark a little. Celia refers to her little brother as “it” and you can tell she is supposed to be revolted and disgruntled by his arrival, but the way it comes across is maybe just not enough feeling written into that relationship. I think I would have liked a little more background on Celia’s character with her parents. Once the story gets going though when she moves on with her love interest Gideon, it is hard to put down, I just wanted to know what was happening next.
Overall if you like the horror genre this is worth the read!

This is a great retelling of a classic story. It has a lot of twists and turns that keep you guessing. If you like the original story of Rumpelstiltskin and want a darker version of that story then this is a must read.
