In a town full of lies, the truth can get you killed.

Jonny Mendez thought he’d finally found peace in Redwood, Oregon—a quiet town where no one asked too many questions. But when a man leaps to his death from the Royal Hotel, Jonny’s instincts scream that something isn’t right. Days later, another death rocks the town—another supposed suicide, another connection to a decades-old secret.

As Jonny digs deeper, he uncovers a sinister web of betrayal, blackmail, and a deadly truth someone will kill to keep buried. The closer he gets to the answers, the more dangerous his world becomes.

Because in Redwood, someone is pulling the strings… and if Jonny isn’t careful, he’ll be next.

Perfect for fans of Lee Child, David Baldacci, and James Patterson, I Hear You is a pulse-pounding thriller packed with suspense, intrigue, and a relentless hero you won’t forget. If you love high-stakes mysteries and small-town secrets, this is one you won’t be able to put down!

  1. Maureen H

An excellent thriller! This had a great mystery of who the killer was and what exactly happened to Andrew Stone. It tooke a bit to figure out who might have ‘done it’
I really liked these characters – especially Jonny. I liked his attitude and the way he handled business. The plot was excellent, with lots of action and mystery.

  2. clive willcocks

Another great story from Andre. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story. It is well worth a read. Highly recommended.

  3. Miranda Collins

I am not a huge thriller reader, HOWEVER this one was beyond worth taking the chance!
A mystery man just trying to live a new life in a quiet town gets himself involved in a series of murders in a small town in Oregon.
And beyond just being a page turning thriller, the message is clear: Suicide Prevention.
It’s not often that you find a murder mystery with a deep message, but here it is!

  4. Marlys Frisby

I enjoyed this book. It can be read as a standalone. I didn’t want to put it down. I was drawn into the story from beginning to end.

  5. Steve

This is an absolutely cracking thriller. Full of twists, turns and intrigue. I loved it. It kept me guessing from the beginning right up to the end as to who had done it, then I was wrong again. Just didn’t see that one coming at all. Cannot wait for the next Mendez book. Highly recommended.

  6. Riann Fletcher

Another excellent action packed, suspenseful and exciting book in the Jonny Mendez series!!! Andre Gonzalez does a deep dive into Jonny’s psyche allowing the reader to gain a deeper understanding of Jonny’s thoughts and motivations. Surprising twists which take the story in an entirely new direction which keeps the reader guessing. This book grabs the reader and doesn’t let go.

  7. Wendell Sprouse

As mentioned on earlier reviews, most of Andre’s books grabs you, and does not let go. This certainly was no exception. The first book in the series went into Jonny’s background and mindset, this one delves deeper. There really was not a true suspect into the very end. Well done! I like others, cannot wait for the next Jonny Mendez book.

  8. Ken Lingenfelter

Jonny Mendez is renting a house in a small town. Three suicides in a very short time and Jonny starts to investigate. All three were on a championship football team in high school. The deaths are suspicious. Someone wants Jonny to back off. I could not stop reading this novel.

  9. Jeff Edwards

I was expecting some carryover from book 1 and was surprised this reads as a standalone.
Amazing premise, great characters with an exceptional thriller. I did consume this story
steadily – even if I only had time for a chapter.
No spoilers. My new favorite character is definitely Jonny, and loved the first person narrative. Writing was exceptional, makes you
want to visit this town and meet these people.
A must read. Great addition to my library.

  10. Calista Wielgos

This was a great thriller. I loved the mystery involved and liked the main character and how he went about finding evidence.

  11. Stacey Markle

I love a good mystery. What I got with I Hear You was a GREAT mystery!
This is very well written, strong characters who move the story along quickly but also being fulsome in their development. There are no shallow side cast members here.
Suspense is a tricky thing to try to create, but man, this is tense and sharp! Great dialogue by smart characters and some twists we don’t see coming.
I always think I can guess the outcome but was pleasantly surprised to not only be wrong, but shocked! Yay, that’s the mark of a great writer. I can’t wait for more from Andre.

    My rating is 4.25

  12. Melissa

I love a good thriller and this one really kept my interest throughout the book. I enjoyed the first book but I really liked this one even more! Jonny is such a likable character with enough personality and humor to keep you wanting more of his adventures. I liked that this carried on Jonny’s story bringing him to a new town with a new mystery to solve, but honestly you could read it as a standalone if you haven’t read the first book or read them in any order and it would still make sense. So far this has been a good thriller series with enough twists, action, and adventure to keep you reading. The book just ended and now I am waiting for the next one 🤣

  13. Sonya Jones

All Jonny desires is some peace, quiet and relaxation but no matter how hard he tries to remain off the grid; trouble finds him.

When a man jumps to his death it is ruled as a s**cide therefore not warranting any police investigation but when another s**cide occurs and the two individuals involved are connected due to playing football together when they were younger. Jonny’s experience as a former SEAL and CIA agent propelled him forward and he had no choice but to do his own investigation. 1 s**cide is unfortunate, 2 s**cides is a coincidence and/or connected but when a 3rd s**cide is reported by someone else from the same football as the previous victims Jonny knows that this is no coincidence and these men are doing these s**cides for a reason. What could have happened to lead to this fate?

Take a journey with Jonny as he plunges headfirst into the investigation. An investigation that the small-town police department is willing to sweep under the rug, Jonny is making more enemies than allies, but this doesn’t deter him from getting answers and stopping the next death before it happens and what he finds is a tangled web of secrets of a horrific, traumatizing event that serves as the catalyst for the victim’s revenge.

This story is action packed and full of twists and turns. Once again Jonny’s plans for small town relaxation are ruined by crime, corrupt cops, secrets of the past and bringing closure to those dealing with the grief over the loved ones they lost.

  14. Colin Spencer

Another good Jonny Mendez book. In the Jack Reacher style but different. There is plenty of action and a good story that features around was it suicide or was it murder. Jonny is the only one initially that suspects it is not suicide. The investigation takes him in several different directions. A good read that I enjoyed.

  15. Cody Jones

I Hear You is a thrilling book that keeps you guessing until the end. This is the second book in the Jonny Mendez series and I haven’t read the first one but this felt like a standalone book. I really enjoyed this in how Andre kept building suspense and keeping us the reader wondering what happened. I’m definitely going to be checking out more of his books after this one. Andre has a great ability to keep you glued to the pages and wanting more. This book reminded me of such great thrillers like Zodiac where the bad guy continues to do stuff to the main character to try to throw off the scent. In the end this was a great thriller that is able to keep up with the notable thrillers of the past. If you’re looking for a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat and have you looking around every corner then this book is for you.

  16. Amber Valencia

This was a great murder mystery. I did guess the “killer” pretty early on in the story however the circumstances and the why behind it all too me by surprise. I loved the mental health representation in the book and that there was a lot of information about 988 and what they do. There is a lot of talk of suicide in this book so if that bothers you, be aware.

I really enjoyed this book! Jonny is a badass and the way the story was written pulls you right in and makes you HAVE to know what’s happening next.

  17. Terry M

A well written thriller, which keeps you engaged from start to finish. Suicides or murders? As Jonny becomes suspicious and starts to unofficially investigate, he discovers links to the deaths from a long past history plus a cover up of a serious crime committed. Highly recommended.

  18. Christine

I Hear You is a gripping thriller packed with unexpected twists, strong characters, and a deeper emotional core. Andre Gonzalez masterfully balances suspense with a powerful message about suicide prevention, making this more than just a page-turner—it’s a meaningful, thought-provoking read. Highly recommend for fans of thrillers with art.

  19. Mike

Another excellent book from Andre. Jonny is climbing up the list as one of my favourite characters, along side Arielle… The plot and twist in this was great and I was surprised that the book wasn’t a continuation, but could be read as a stand alone book.
Looking forward to the next instalment.
